• The fact that IEEE has defined eight different versions of 10 gigabit Ethernet says something about the current state of the industry.
• Suppliers are trying to maximise their share of this emerging market, but in doing so have created some difficult investment decisions.
• 10 gigabit Ethernet is urgently required for server clusters and data centres. It is also a rapidly growing requirement for enterprise network backbones, where spare bandwidth is now running low.
• Its arrival at the desktop is inevitable, although timing is presently difficult to forecast. This is posing some complex choices on cabling media for the future, both in the backbone and in the horizontal.
This seminar has been designed for professionals involved in the specification, procurement, implementation or management of enterprise network infrastructure.
The content has a strong technical focus but also takes account of important market-related issues. It will therefore provide an up-to-the-minute assessment for technical specialists and marketers alike.
IEEE specifications for the latest and most exciting versions of 10 gigabit Ethernet will soon be published, so this is the right time to take stock of the options and start planning the future.
"Over many years, the guidance and expertise provided by Alan Flatman has been of great benefit to the comms industry internationally. Alan is the authoritative independent voice, where it is needed. He is the official liaison between ISO/IEC WG3 (authors of ISO/IEC 11801 and therefore AS/NZS 3080) and the IEEE on issues relating to Ethernet transmission. Alan is a great presenter and I encourage you to not miss this rare opportunity of hearing his presentation"
- Col Browitt, Clipsal Datacomms technical manager.

Cabling Connection is proud to present this series of half-day seminars in Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Auckland.
Each seminar consists of two parts:
• 10g Master Class - An independent overview of choices, issues and strategies for 10 gigabit networks presented by Alan Flatman (a UK-based, world renowned networks expert who is an active contributor to IEEE 802).
• National regulatory update - A comprehensive review of Codes and Standards for the soon-to-be-released revision to the Communications Cabling Manual (CCM) presented by John Ward (chair of CT-001 Standards Committee and Australia's longest serving representative on international cabling Standards).
